integrative project 2019-2020

“My Mother Raised a Wolf (to take her place, but I grew up to be an English major” is the title of this integrative comic project, the culmination of a lengthy investigation into a mother-daughter relationship fraught by divine responsibility and the spiraling feeling that nothing under your control can actually be controlled. This 16-page comic peeks into a wandering narrative of the wolf-girl Winnie and her unnamed mother as a lineage of capricious, destructive, and extremely powerful forces that are not born of this world - they just happen to live in it. Despite the earth-shattering power the characters inherit and wield, they are conscripted into rules and routines that undercut personal desire and individual humanity, playing roles that they must continue to play for no other reason than “that it must be.”
